Our instructor Mr. Domingos J. DaSilva has bred and co-bred showed Afghan Hounds and has several champions. He has over twenty years experienced as a professional dog & cat groomer and dog show industry.
Our dog styling program will help you develop your skills as a professional pet stylist; this will better prepare you to enter the grooming business. Upon completion of the program, you will be able you undestand and:
- Handle dogs properly and safely. - Understand how to provide better customer service and be able to handle issues that arise with customers and proper use of blades, styling and shaving methods. - Should be able to groom at least 4 to 5 dogs within your schedule shift. - Learn how to build clientele. - Be able to have creditability in the industry. - Expand your career, opportunity and potential earnings. - You will be better qualify to apply for a professional job in the pet styling industry.
THE PROGRAM AND COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The students will learn grooming technique basic-advance: Proper scissoring method/ the difference between skip tooth and finish blades, Styling, Scissoring, shaving methods, pet safety, and proper mixing of shampoo : A writen test will be administered every two weeks.
The program and course outline by- weekly
Week 1 & 2=The students will learn and participate how to:
1. Policy procedures, students expectation. basic prepping, bathing, brushing techniques, how to clean ears, nail cutting, how to handle and control pet safely, do sanitation, proper brushing and shampoo procedure.
Week 3 & 4= The students will learn and participate how to:
2. Proper blade and scissor use. Do basic trimming/shaving, blow drying, how to use flea products and shampoo, proper use of fluff drying.
Week 5 & 6= The students will continue to learn how to:
3. Scissoring method, shaving method, the difference between the finish blade and skip tooth blade, outline and shaping method, pure breed and mix breed design and finish technique.
Week 7 & 8=The students will learn and participate how to:
4. The students will continue to learn styling and scissoring, do customer intake, review disease and parasites, review different types of breeds and coats types, and final examination, which includes two breed technical hair cuts and styling and a writen final examination.
